Chobham Road
London
Case Study Overview
Project Name: Chobham Road
Project Type: Residential
Products: ThermoSphere Foil, Membrane & Programmable thermostat
Architects: Edward Williams Architects Developer: Cliveden Land Ltd
This smart 800m2 residential scheme is a mews-style development that has been inserted in an existing development of 39 homes. Once a car parking area, the new buildings will provide 2x 1 bedroom homes (semi-detached), 4x 3 bedroom apartments and 3x 2 bedroom apartments. Designed to give a natural feel and made predominantly from timber, the structure of the roofs allows for the ground floors to have easily accessible daylight.
In order to reduce disruption to local residents, the development will use offsite prefabrication with the materials specified having a good level of thermal efficiency. Additionally, one third of the car parking will include electric charging points.
ThermoSphere were approached by KF London to supply the electric underfloor heating throughout nine apartments. The subfloor was prepared which consisted of plywood, acoustic layer and 18mm cement overlay boards which was then going to be finished with a timber floor. We proposed 140W/m2 ThermoSphere Foil and where tiles were used in the bathrooms, we proposed ThermoSphere Membrane which was designed at a 130W/m2 output.
Each zone (area) was controlled by ThermoSphere‘s programmable thermostat with an option to upgrade to either a SmartHome or the Bluetooth thermostat so that heating can be controlled via an app.
